The third season began with the Angels tackling Las Vegas, as well as witnessing former Angel, Jill Munroe (Farrah Fawcett), return to Charlie's office. Farrah, who had left the series after the first year, agreed to six more episodes- three during the 1978-1979 season and three during the 1979-1980 season.

Fans were excited by Farrah's return, but so was the media, which anxiously reported rumors that the set was full of tension.

However, the biggest bombshell landed when Kate Jackson announced she was leaving the series at the end of the season. During the hiatus of Angels, Kate was offered the lead role in Kramer vs. Kramer. Unfortunately, she was not allowed out of her "Angel" contract to film the movie. The role eventually went to Meryl Streep, who then won an Academy Award for her performance.

During the same season, Cheryl Ladd was able to return to her first love, singing. She released her first LP entitled "Cheryl Ladd" and secured a top 40 hit, "Think It Over".

Ironically, the final episode of the season was entitled "Angels Remembered." The Angels sat around the office and reminisced about their past cases together. And as they lifted their champagne glasses for their final toast, it was to be the last time that Sabrina Duncan (Kate Jackson) was to grace the Townsend office as the Angels' official leader.

With the third season was in a bit of turmoil, the Angels kept their heavenly faces on 100's of magazines. The toy production, on the other hand, was beginning to come to a close. But the biggest question on everyone's mind was, who was going to be replacing Kate Jackson? The race to find Charlie's Newest Angel had begun!
