Charlie's Angels Pilot - 1976

Charlie's Angels pilot was first shown on ABC on March 21, 1976 at evening the movie got a 54.8 viewing share. Up to that time only Super Bowls were getting such huge ratings. So needless to say ABC placed the angels on to their fall 1976 schedule.

The pilot was set up a bit differently that the series. The Angels were detectives and they did not use guns. They used their wits and brains. It was not until the series that the Angels had guns in their hands! The Angels also worked beside two men, one was John Bosely (David Doyle) and Scott Woodville which was played by David Ogden Stiers. Yet, when the series was made the character of Woodville was axed.

The case in the pilot had the angels going undercover in the wine vineyard to uncover if there had been foul play with the missing Vincent LeMaire who is soon to be officially named dead soon. Kelly Garrett goes first undercover as Janet LeMaire. After the her cover is blown by the "real" Janet LeMaire, who is really Sabrina Ducan undercover. Kelly becomes "thick as thieves" with the threesome who is willing to kill to keep the vineyard. But the Angels, lead the threesome to uncover the dead body of Vincent LeMaire and sends them all to jail.

The fun surprise guest star in the pilot film is no other than super star Tommy Lee Jones!

Charlie's Angels Movie - 2000

Once upon a time there were three little different little girls.....who grew up to be three very different women....with three things in common...they're bright...they're beautiful....and they work for me...my name is Charlie.

That is how the newest installment of Angels open on the silver screen on November 3rd, 2000. Charlie's Angels: The Movie was an updated version of the original series. This time around once again John Forthye, returned as the voice of Charlie and the Angels went back to their detective roots without using guns - but their wits, brains and "Matrix" kicks.

But it was not always heaven on the set of Charlie's Angels. It took Sony Entertainment over three years to get the script right and stars set for the feature adaptation of the series. In 1998, it was reported that Michelle Yeho, Jenny McCarty, and Jada Pinkett-Smith were signed for the film. That was just a rumor, it was not until Drew Barrymore got interested in the project that the "Angel" finally got their wings! After Barrymore, Diaz were both cast the producers were lost with out a third angel. Then was announced that the third angel was Thandie Newton (Mission Impossible 2) - but as soon as it was announced - Ms. Newton pulled out of the film. Back down with only two angels -- Lucy Liu was asked to be in the film and she accepted. Although Ms. Liu was doing double duties as she was still filming Ally McBeal.

But with the stars set, the film went thorough a report 30 screen writers and went way over budget -- and became a $100 Million Dollar film! Yet, all in all with rumored fighting matches between Lucy Liu and Bill Murray the film was a HUGE hit! Brining in USA alone over $120 Million Dollars! Just goes to show -- Charlie's Angels still kick butt!

The new angels are Drew Barrymore as Dylan Sanders. Dylan is gorgeous, reckless, street wise, tough and jaded -- "The Wild Angel." Cameron Diaz as Natalie Cook. Natalie is beautiful, brainy, determined, and analyzes everything -- "The Scientific Angel." Lucy Liu as Alexandra "Alex" Munday. Alex is daring, self-possessed, lethal hands and looks to match -- "The Sexy Angel." Bill Murray took over the rains as good-old John Bosely.

In the Angels newest case, The Angels are hired out to find kidnapped engineer Eric Knox the owner of a cutting edge communication Software Company. The kidnaper has also stolen Knox's "identification software", which in the wrong hands could spell disaster for the world. The Angels go deep undercover with their only lead, Roger Corwin (Tim Curry), owner of Red Star Systems. The Angels rescue Knox's, but they still have to find the stolen "identification software." That's when the true "Angel Adventure" begins...

What is next? Sony Entertainment is working on a Charlie's Angels 2!
